Welcome to Assuramed Healthcare

Assuramed Healthcare is an experienced registered Umbrella Body, authorised by the Criminal Records Bureau to administer Criminal Record Bureau Checks for organisations throughout the UK.

Assuramed Healthcare is a specialist provider of CRB screening services, having delivered its service since the launch of the CRB in April 2002. Our team of CRB advisors are highly experienced and our qualifications include graduate membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

Criminal Records Screening is an effective way of detecting whether an employee or new recruit has any criminal convictions and will assist organisations in making safer recruitment decisions and reduce risk.

We work with all industry sectors from small organisations that require 1-2 Criminal Record Bureau Checks per annum to larger organisations processing 1000 Criminal Record Bureau Checks or more.

CRB News

23/02/2007 Change to Transgender Contact

The CRB has a special application procedure for transgender people who do not wish to reveal details of their previous gender to the person who asked them to complete an application form for a CRB check. For further information please contact the CRB on 0151 676 1526 to discuss this matter in confidence. You can also contact 'Press for Change' at www.pfc.org.uk or 'The Gender Trust' at www.gendertrust.org.uk

04/01/2007 track applications online

New online tracking service has now been launched. Customers can check the progress of their applications online. This new service will save our customers significant time and resource. Searches can be carried out in seconds and provides clear information about the date the application was received by the CRB, the stage in the process that the application has reached and the date that each stage was completed.

12/10/2006 timetable for de-registering

The CRB will be contacting organisations within set timescales over the forthcoming 18 months, regarding de-registering. Organisations can register with Assuramed Healthcare for continued service.
Please note this does not affect organisations who are already registered with Assuramed Healthcare, who will not be required to de-register.

The projected periods that organisations will be contacted is as follows: December 2006 to March 2007, for those organisations who process an average of 11 to 30 applications. April 2007 to July 2007 - those processing 31-50, August 2007 to November 2007, for those processing 51 to 73 and finally those processing 74-99 - December 2007 to March 2008.

18/09/2006 New Data Sources

As part of the CRB's work to expand their data sources, this month sees the incorporation of data from the British Transport Police (BTP) into the Enhanced Disclosure service. In future, in addition to compiling relevant data from the 43 police forces in England and Wales, as well as forces in Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man, Enhanced Disclosures could also be sent to the BTP and their information may now appear on the Disclosures you receive.

01/04/2006 CRB no longer supports portability

The CRB has announced that it does not support the portability of CRB certificates. The underpinning logic is that a CRB certificate is only as good as the date it was issued and employers that accept a certificate that is not up to date could be taking significant risks in not detecting recent Criminal Convictions that could have been picked up by an applicant.

Assuramed Healthcare has always supported this and recommends that a new CRB application is undertaken on all new applicants, to avoid any potential risks and to follow best practice.

27/03/2006 New Regulations

New regulations are coming into force on the 6th April 2006. The new regulations will mean that organisations who are registered directly with the CRB will have to process a minimum of 100 CRB checks per annum to maintain their registration.

Please note the minimum threshold of 100 CRB applications per annum does not apply to our existing or new customers.

The CRB are implementing a roll-out program to cancel low volume registered bodies as from April 2006.

Many organisations will have to find an experienced Umbrella Body to access CRB checks on their behalf.

Assuramed Healthcare has all the necessary expertise and resources in place to ensure organisations receive continuity of service

Organisations can re-register with Assuramed Healthcare to ensure they have continued cover. Our team will make the changeover process simple and easy.
